The next training session for volunteers will be on Wednesday, December 14, at 2 p.m. The meeting will be held at the BUSD Office at 551 S. Ave. H. Due to limited space, BUSD will call volunteers to reserve their spots ahead of time.
Why Are School Volunteers Important?
Schools rely on the support of volunteers to supplement the work of teachers and staff. Volunteers can provide valuable assistance with various activities, from tutoring and mentoring students to chaperoning field trips and helping with special events. In addition, volunteers can help to create a positive and welcoming environment for all members of the school community.
The Volunteer Training Program is essential for schools to ensure that volunteers are adequately prepared to take on their responsibilities. In addition, the program provides vital information on child development, effective communication, and conflict resolution topics. By completing the Volunteer Training Program, volunteers can help ensure that they make a positive and lasting contribution to the school community.
According to a quote from Athlos Academics, “My parent volunteers are a huge part of my classroom,” said Jo Whittaker, a first-grade teacher at Athos Academy of Utah. “I have them come in at least three days a week. They help with fluency, sight words, phonics, and math. They are able to be another source of one-on-one time with every level of learner.”
Volunteers also feel a sense of accomplishment by helping out one or multiple schools, depending on their schedule; all schools should have a similar volunteer program, so they have staff on hand when needed.
How Does Student Hires Trains their Volunteers?
Volunteer training is essential for preparing individuals to work productively and safely in various settings. It helps new volunteers to understand their roles and responsibilities and provides them with the skills and knowledge they need to be successful in their new roles. Student Hires offers a comprehensive curriculum covering various topics, including conflict resolution, school events, summer programs, leadership training, and more.
The program also includes a hands-on component, allowing volunteers to practice their skills in a safe and controlled environment with students around their age and lower. By the end of the training, students will have the confidence and competence they need to be successful in their roles as fully-fledged student-led role models.
Conclusion
If you are interested in becoming a BUSD Volunteer, please reach out to the District Office for the required information and get it completed as soon as possible. Have you been a Volunteer in the past? Let us know in the comments below.
