MTSS, RTIs, PBIS

The Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) is a framework to help schools organize supports for all students and structure plans for intervention when students need more than what is provided to the general population. The MTSS encompasses both Response to Instruction and Intervention (RTI²) and the Positive Behavioral Intervention & Supports (PBIS).  RTI² focuses on academic achievement while PBIS focuses on social, emotional, and behavioral learning. As a member of Student Hires, you can position yourself to support students using strategies in the PBIS. The connections you make during your time with the students naturally supports the core work of PBIS. In the upcoming section, Maintaining Effective Classrooms, look for insights that complement the PBIS.
