The California Summer Meals Program is state-funded and provides free meals to children 18 and under during the summer months. The program is administered by the California Department of Education and is open to any child who meets the age requirements, regardless of income level or background.

Meals are typically served at schools, community centers, or other public locations. In addition, the program offers a variety of nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snack options to ensure that children have access to healthy food when school is not in session.

In addition to providing nourishment, the program also offers opportunities for socialization and recreation. For example, the California Summer Meals Program is an important resource for ensuring that all children have access to healthy food and a safe place to spend their summers. Schools typically also offer events and different community challenges to help prepare kids for when it’s back-to-school time.
