Tallahassee Community College is creating the Tallahassee Collegiate Academy (TCA), a tuition-free STEM charter high school that will begin operations in August 2023. In January, the Florida Department of Education blessed Tallahassee Community College as the state's first college charter school authorizer.

What is Tallahassee Collegiate Academy?

Tallahassee Collegiate Academy is a STEM-focused charter high school that provides 9th and 10th-grade students with academic pathways to advanced coursework in STEM fields. The academy is open to students in Leon, Gadsden, and Wakulla counties and offers a rigorous curriculum designed to prepare students for college and careers in STEM-related fields. In addition, students can graduate with their high school diploma and an A.S. degree in any STEM-related field, such as cybersecurity, computer programming, web development, dental hygiene, nursing, video game development, and more.

Interested students will also be workforce ready as soon as they graduate. They can work with Tallahassee Collegiate Academy's partners or receive job assistance in their chosen local area. Interested students can take their degree and go to a local college to pursue a bachelor's degree in their selected track.

"Tallahassee Collegiate Academy is a game-changer, offering a first-of-its-kind educational experience for students," said Karen Moore. "There is no other place in the community that can offer the resources that we provide. TCA graduates will have a high school diploma as well as an Associate of Science degree in a STEM field, and zero debt. Our students will be ready to go directly into the workforce where they will be qualified for in-demand, high-paying jobs, or they can choose to continue their education."
