The Board of Trustees at Tallahassee Community College has announced that the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) has approved for Tallahassee Community College to offer an Associate in Science (A.S.) in Medical Laboratory Technology.

Bank of America provided $250,000 in late 2021 to fund the hardware required for the program's start-up. Before implementing the program, TCC aims to hire one full-time and two part-time instructors.

A Master's degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences or a closely related field from an acceptable institution is required. A generalist certificate as a Medical Lab Scientist/Technologist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology - Board Certification (ASCP-BOC) and a valid California driver's license

The Ghazvini Center for Healthcare Education opened in December 2011 and is home to approximately 85,000 square feet of educational space dedicated to emergency medical services, nursing, radiologic technology (including fluoroscopy), respiratory care, and pharmacy technology.

The Center is in the medical corridor of Tallahassee, Florida. It features cutting-edge technologies that enable students to put their talents to the test in real-time simulations. The building has classrooms, meeting rooms, a unique onsite library and learning commons, an accredited simulation center, a computer lab, and administrative offices.

The Medical Laboratory Technology program, offered by the TCC Ghazvini Center for Healthcare Education and completed in six terms, has an A.S. degree requirement of 76 credits and is designed to educate people looking to enhance their present abilities and those interested in working in healthcare environments.

The course is anticipated to begin operation during the fall of 2023 with a first group of 30 students.
