Students usually stress about how they plan to pay for college and whether the career path they want will suit them. No worries, Laney College has you covered with a free fall semester for fall 22-23. But why is it free? That’s thanks to the emergency relief fund given to schools to help with the covid crisis. Every school has different methods and programs to help students to get back on track for their education.

How Can Students Attend?

All students are eligible except international students; they must apply through financial aid. Students should contact their financial aid advisor for more information or come on campus and go to the welcome services center.

What Can Students Get for Free?

Laney College is also offering free services for students who attend this fall to make sure everyone is safe and taken care of. Here is a list of free services:

Tuition: Apply through financial aid, and students must ensure they finish the enrollment process.

Books and Instructional Supplies: Show your schedule of classes to the Laney Bookstore, and they will be able to give you all the required supplies for your classes. They will also give you any recommended information for your schedule.

A/C Transit Pass: Students can pick up their passes at the cashier’s office in A-201

Parking: Parking is free for everyone for fall 2022, and a permit is not required.

Health Fee and Student Activities Fee: The fees will automatically be taken off your account after you complete the FASFA.

Chromebooks WI-FI: Students can check out in the library.

Lunch: Lunch is free every Monday-Thursday in the cafeteria Student Center from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm.

Food Produce Pantry: The Pantry is free every Monday – Thursday in the cafeteria from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm.

Food Pantry with Meats and Dairy: Free for each student once a week in the cafeteria every Wednesday and Thursday from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm

Students can enjoy these benefits while attending the fall semester; hopefully, this will make everything easier for everyone attending. Laney College will also host information sessions for students on August 10, 11, 12, 15, and 16 at 12 pm, with additional evening sessions at 6 pm.

Student Hires Programs

Student Hires is an organization that creates hands-on experiential learning programs for K-12 students in our community. Our programs are led by college students passionate about increasing the career readiness of disadvantaged youth.

We believe that by providing these young people with the opportunity to learn through experience, we can help them overcome their challenges and attain their goals. Our programs focus on various topics, including STEM, business, and leadership.

Through our programs, students gain the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in college and their future careers. In addition, they develop essential soft skills, such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. Student Hires is committed to preparing our community’s youth for the future, and we are proud to help schools create successful programs.
